Our Web Design & Development Work with Lakes Highway District

The Problem

Residents rely on Lakes Highway District for important information about road projects, public meetings, permits, and district policies. However, the previous website made this information difficult to find. Content was buried in documents, navigation was confusing, and staff had limited ability to keep updates organized. As a result, community members often had to call the office to get basic answers, and the District lacked a simple digital system to communicate clearly with the public.

Well Dressed Walrus partnered with Lakes Highway District to create a custom WordPress website designed around the real needs of residents and staff. We structured the site to help users quickly locate key services, meeting materials, financial information, and road project updates through clear navigation and improved search functionality.

The new platform includes a flexible content management system that allows staff to easily update announcements, upload documents, and maintain accurate public records. We also integrated advanced features such as GIS mapping capabilities, project tracking sections, and a centralized repository for agendas, minutes, policies, and district standards. The site was built to be fully mobile-responsive so residents can access critical information from any device.

The redesigned website now serves as a reliable public information hub that supports transparency and improves communication between the District and the community. Residents can quickly find what they need without frustration, while staff can confidently manage updates and share time-sensitive information. The new structure also gives Lakes Highway District a scalable digital foundation, allowing them to expand services and enhance community engagement as technology and public needs evolve.
