Well Dressed Walrus is looking for an experienced Website Development Contractor to establish an ongoing partnership with our team.

We're not simply looking for someone to complete a single project. We're looking for a dependable development partner we can work with consistently—someone who can collaborate with our designers and team, take ownership of development work, solve problems, and help us deliver an exceptional experience to our clients.

Our ideal partner has extensive WordPress experience, strong technical troubleshooting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively while independently managing the work entrusted to them.

The Kind of Work We'd Partner With You On

• Collaborating with our designers to turn provided designs, files, and direction into polished WordPress websites and pages.
• Building, updating, and converting responsive web pages that follow accessibility and ADA best practices.
• Building complex Gravity Forms utilizing conditional logic, dynamic population, and CAPTCHA/Turnstile integrations.
• Writing custom CSS to achieve specific design requirements and using Chrome DevTools for precise targeting and troubleshooting.
• Optimizing website content, including alt text, meta descriptions, and basic image editing and cropping.
• Assessing and troubleshooting plugin issues, website update requests, and other WordPress-related technical problems.
• Helping us solve the occasional unusual website problem that doesn't fit neatly into a checklist.

• Extensive WordPress development experience, including building websites from scratch based on provided designs and established styles. (We'll teach you the Well Dressed Walrus approach.)
• Strong HTML and CSS skills.
• Advanced experience building and managing Gravity Forms.
• A good eye for design, spacing, typography, and color.
• Experience with Toolset and Custom Post Types.
• Strong proficiency with Google Workspace.
• Experience working with cPanel and PHP.
• Experience with WordPress themes and builders such as Kadence, Enfold, Divi, or TagDiv Newspaper—or the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar tools.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Website Development & Support Specialist to join our team in delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with WordPress development, complemented by a strong foundation in technical support knowledge. This dynamic role requires a blend of creativity, problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with designers, utilizing provided files and documents to build and update web pages.
• Build, update, and convert responsive web pages that adhere to ADA accessibility best practices.
• Develop complex Gravity Forms with conditional logic, dynamic population links, and captcha/Turnstile integrations.
• Write custom CSS to achieve specific design elements, leveraging Chrome Dev Tools for precise targeting.
• Optimize website content by writing alt text and meta descriptions, and performing basic photo editing (cropping).
• Perform initial assessment and troubleshooting of broken plugins, update requests, and other website-related issues.
• Provide support and clear responses for client inquiries and issues on tickets assigned by the Customer Support Lead.
• Perform troubleshooting and resolution for assigned support tickets, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Proactively manage and follow up on assigned support tickets to ensure timely resolution.
• Collaborate with the Customer Support Lead to create work order invoices and estimates for client projects and services.
• Generate GA4 reports, reset passwords, provide DNS information, and flush website caches.

Requirements:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon into understandable terms for clients.
• Comfortable with page development and content updates within WordPress.
• Working knowledge of plugin management, caching strategies, and website backups.
• Familiarity with Web Accessibility and ADA best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in technical support specifically related to websites or general IT.
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to assigned tickets and internal team members.
• Proficiency in generating reports from GA4 and organizing Google Tag Manager (GTM).
• A True North moral compass and an uncompromising standard of data security and confidentiality.

Would Like to Haves:

• Extensive experience with WordPress development, including setting up sites from scratch according to design styles.
