Our discovery process provides a detailed up-front needs assessment to clearly understand your goals and your audience to help you develop the best solution to meet those needs while staying within your budget. With every website we have built, we can confidently say that this step is key, both for your sake and ours. Without this up-front due diligence, misunderstandings abound, changes in scope are common (causing cost overruns), and timeline milestones are missed. Our discovery process is a critical first step that saves you time and money.
Because the size of our projects vary considerably from one to the next, we base our estimate for discovery on a percentage of the total hours estimated for the entire project.
The process for creating all the visuals, such as graphics and page designs, consists of us providing "screen shot" drafts and asking for your feedback; your input is then used to produce another draft. Unless previously arranged, our estimates typically allow for feedback on two drafts followed by a finalized site design. In our experience our discovery step and ongoing communication usually allows us to get to a design you love in that time, but we are always willing to adjust the estimate if more revisions are needed.
Once the Design phase is complete, we will ask you to "Sign off" on the design. Then the website development can begin.
This phase consists of converting the static images (screen shots) you approved in the Design phase into code for the web. We slice the images and style them up using HTML, CSS, Javascript. Once it’s looking good, we convert these coded, interactive pages into a custom WordPress template. We have chosen to use WordPress because it is now considered to be a web standard, and for good reason. This system allows us to put the power of editing your website content in YOUR hands and it’s is easy-to-use and easy-to-learn for even the most non-technical users.
Once the website structure is ready, we'll show you how to add and edit content on the pages of your site. This is the tail end of the Build phase because we often need to tweak things a bit to get the fonts, images, and spacing just right. You'll likely want to have a close friend or colleague proof-read your content just to be sure it is perfect. When you’re ready...
Once all content is entered and the core site has been approved by you, our team will perform a final, in-depth Q/A process, with help from you, which includes:
Once tested, approved, and tweaked to perfection, we will launch your website on your domain name and it will be publicly viewable. This process usually only takes an hour or two, but can take several days depending on how complex the site is and what hosting service you currently use. If you don't have hosting, we offer that too - just ask.

Setting up Webmaster Tools allows us to instantly verify your site with Google, note any pages that you don’t want search engines to index, submit your sitemap, and start gathering data that will help you optimize your site going forward.
Free and surprisingly powerful, Google Analytics can track detailed stats on who's visiting your website. We'll install the Google tracking code on every page of your site, make sure data is being collected, and give you access to view your reports online.
Please keep in mind, the items above are meant to establish a solid SEO foundation, but many other factors affect your ongoing search engine success, including creating relevant content, establishing back-links (the number of sites linking to you), utilizing social media (blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and others. It is impossible for us (or anyone else, really) to guarantee a particular search engine ranking for a specific keyword or set of keywords.
